The system has become more and more efficient at co-opting any new genuine art for it's own commercial purposes as soon as it $hows promi$e.
The entertainment business is not synonymous with art.
I suspect that most people don't really want to meet a real rebel anyhow.
Think about the impressionist painters… they were breaking free… they did not see the financial rewards of their art during their lifetimes…they weren't constrained by the existent rusty cage of their time....
The "$uccessful Arti$t" is a more recent development.
