When the weatherman says a life-threatening cold front is coming your direction with 15" of snow, or a hurricane is forming, which of the following 4 options sounds the most like you?
DO YOU:
1.) Rush to the grocery store to make sure you have enough beer, and junky snack foods .
2.) Make a last minute stop on your way home from work to top off your supply of drinking water, a few essentials and maybe some extra toilet paper.
3.) Rest easy knowing that you have several weeks or more worth of quality foods, essential items, drinking water, energy bars, etc. and instead, spend that time getting fuel, securing your home and relaxing while everyone else is in a brawl at the grocery store, fighting over the last package of cookies.
4.) Do nothing and figure that if "things" get bad enough, someone else – such as the Government or FEMA – will take care of you and your loved ones.
We all know where we would like to be on this list.
If you do 1/10th of this a week over 10 weeks you can get there.
3 weeks worth is a good goal.
Creating an "extra" 3 weeks worth over a 10 week period.
Don't worry about getting it "perfect"
You can always trade or barter with quality staple items like sugar, salt, rice, etc.
If the problem is worse than 3 weeks, well that puts us in Survival Country and that's a
different reality than the above.
